General Information

In the shooting world, there are many disciplines and variables.  To allow you to improve your particular shooting skills, the Autopuller is offered in several models.  By purchasing only what you need, you not only save money, but also can pull your own targets with routines not available anywhere else.

All of our standard models are all voice activated with the provision to pull for a companion.

We have standard model controllers for Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays. And you can always design your own Custom model.

We also have some  Specialty Controllers (with new products always in the works).

Most models come in both wired and wireless versions.

    Call and Shoot
If all you want is to release a target (a single or a double) at the sound of your call, the Basic model will fill your needs. It has no frills, just a simple voice release.

The next model up, Advanced allows you to delay the launch of the single or the double. This is the like the Basic model, but with an adjustable delay between your call and the target release. (At the time of your order, you choose one of three delays: Voice Delay gives a slight delay between your call and the target launch, which you can adjust at any time, International Delay which gives you a random delay between o and 3 seconds. You can adjust the maximum on this delay to be less, and American Delay which gives you a random delay between o and 1 second, also adjustable).

On the advanced model for Trap this routine would be the rearm mode which rearms the microphone after each shot, so that you don't have to push the arming button each time.

If you are looking to mimic a human referee, than you need to have a slight delay of launch, and also a small variant. The Deluxe Skeet model has the Voice Delay and one of the two random delays, the American Delay or International Delay. Using these two routines together allows you to set a minimum and a maximum on a random delay to give you referee practice.

Our Premium models are available for Skeet and Sporting Clays.
The Skeet model comes with the set delay (Voice Delay), one of the random delays (American or International Delay), and the H/L mode. This additional mode is for those of you who put both shells in the gun and shoot the high single and the low single without going back to your pouch to reload. You call for the High single and the sound of your shot arms the microphone for the low single.
The Sporting Clays premium model comes with Voice Delay (gives a slight delay between your call and the target launch, which you can adjust at any time), Report Pair (you arm the first target and the opposite target launches at the sound of your gun) and Following Pair (you arm the first target and a second target from the same machine is launched at the sound of your gun).

If none of these models fit your needs, then we can put something together just for you. See our Custom models pages.

Explanation of Modes for Standard and Custom models

Voice Delay - a set delay between your call and the launch (This delay will be the same each time, until you choose to change it.)

American Delay  - a random delay of 0-1 second (You can adjust this delay so that the maximum is less than one second.)

International Delay - a random delay of 0-3 seconds (You can adjust this delay so that the maximum is less than three seconds.)

Report Pair - You choose the first target which will be released by your voice. The opposite target will be released at the sound of your gun. (You can adjust the amount of delay between the sound of the gun and the release of the second target.)

Following Pair - The first target will be released by your voice. A second target from the same machine will be released at the sound of your gun. (You can adjust the amount of delay between the sound of the gun and the release of the second target.)

Rearm - After your shot, The Autopuller will automatically rearm the microphone for the last target that launched (you can adjust the amount of time that it takes for the Autopuller to rearm.)

H/L - This mode allows you to shoot a round of skeet minimized the times that you need to press the arming button. When you are in this mode, press the High House arming button. The Autopuller will release the High House at your voice. Then the Autopuller will wait for your voice to launch the low house. (If you press both arming buttons you will get a pair.)

Random - No matter which arming button you choose to arm the microphone, the Autopuller will choose which target will be launched.

Time Delay - This does not use the voice activation. The target will be release a set number of seconds after the arming button is pushed.

Pull Cord - If you are pulling for someone else and don't want to press an arming button and the manual release button to launch a target, this mode will allow you to launch the target with just the press of a single button. There are no delays or voice activation involved in this mode.

Flurry - This mode will randomly release targets from one or both of the houses, until the chosen number of targets has been launched. (This fun game is often called paired gun.)

    CONNECTING TO YOUR MACHINE

Both the wired and wireless will have to be connected to your machines. This means you have to disconnect your existing pull cord, and connect either a long cord for the wired models or the adapter cord for the wireless models. We do not supply the connector for your machine. You are responsible for obtaining the correct connector and connecting it to the new cord. We do have a supply of two of the common styles, so you may save some time by investigating what your machine is presently using, then make a single purchase for everything you need. We do not recommend using a standard household type connector on our units. If someone other than yourself were to use your puller, they may inadvertently plug the unit into an outlet and cause a failure.

Wiring instructions are in the manual and on the
    Technical page of this website.

    Systems

Both the wired and wireless systems use the same Autopuller Controller. The only difference is the wired has either a 2-foot or 6-foot cord attached, where the wireless has a transmitter built in. Except for the connector (and extension cord on the wired models), everything you need is included in the purchase price.

    WIRED AUTOPULLERS

All wired Autopullers use your existing pull cord.  You will need to either remove the pushbutton head from your cord and install connectors on the cord and the original head, or supply a new cord. Some shooters have opted to use an external grade extension cord in place of modifying the original cord.

The only additional items you will need to purchase are:
    1. a connector to match your machine and,
    2. a connector on the end of the Autopuller and
    3. the matching connector for the extension cord.  Since there is a variety of connectors you will need to identify the correct connector to your machine, purchase it and attach it.

    The wired system contains:
     1. the Autopuller Controller
     2. a lapel microphone
     3. carabineer for strain relief
     4. carry pouch
     5. Owner's manual

The Skeet and Trap models come with a two-foot cord. You will need to supply the long cord to your machine. You are responsible for attaching a connector to both the Autopuller and your cord.

The Sporting Clays model is equipped with a 7-foot cord. You only have to attach your connectors, and you are ready to walk the course.
(Please note that the Sporting Clays models come with the 4-wire/dual outlet option for courses that have two separate pull cords for the machines, if your course has a single outlet where you would plug in the Autopuller to control both machines, you will need to order the 3-wire/single outlet receiver.)

    Each wired Autopuller system includes:

    • Autopuller  Controller (Size:  2 3/4" x 4 1/2")
    • microphone with lapel clip
    • soft carry pouch  (color may vary from picture)
    • 9-volt alkaline battery
    • carabiner belt clip
    • manual

    WIRELESS AUTOPULLERS

    The wireless system consists of:
     1. the Autopuller Controller with the transmitter installed,
     2. the receiver with antenna
     3. two adapter cords (in case you want to be set up for two different fields)
     4. lapel Microphone
     5. owner's manual

The receiver is designed to make your shoot as trouble free as possible.
The front panel contains 2 dual color lights that inform you of the status of your unit. The left light will flash green to let you know that the receiver is on, or red to indicating when a signal is being sent from the controller. The right light will flash to let you know which machine was trigger for launch. It will flash red for a high target and green for a low target.
Inside the battery compartment, there are switches that allow you to deactivate the 'auto off 30 minutes of non-use', and to adjust the length of the signal going to the machine. By adjusting this signal, you can control all electric machines, including foot switch operated models. Two internal heat fuses protect both the receiver and your machine, in case a mistake is made during wiring. (If you think that you might have 'blown the fuse' just wait for 1 minute for the fuses to reset themselves)

If you place your receiver where there is power available and would like to use that instead of the 9-volt battery, an external power option is also available (see the
    options page).

In some cases the layout of a field may require the receiver to be placed in a house, which may diminsh the range for the receiver. If this is the case you may want to consider the high power antenna, which will allow you to place the receiver inside the house and mount the antenna up to 15 feet away (See Receiver Options page). If you have a Wireless Autopuller that was purchased prior to October of 2009, and would like to retro fit your receiver for this option, you may need to send your receiver back to us for a retrofit.

The receiver is available in two configurations. The standard receiver has one 3 wire outlet and was designed to be connected in place of the standard skeet pull cord. If you have two separate trap machines, and want to keep them electrically isolated, we now offer a receiver that has 2 outlets. (There is a $5 charge for substituting the 2-outlet receiver). Each machine has its own outlet, which keeps both machines separate.

Both the 1-outlet and 2-outlet receivers will work with a single trap machine.

    Each wireless Autopuller system includes:

    • Autopuller Controller  (size:  2 3/4" x 4 1/2")
    • Receiver  (size:  2 3/4" x 4 1/2" )
              with removable antenna
    • Soft Carry case
    • Microphone with lapel clip
    • 2  9-volt alkaline batteries
    • 2 adapter cords
    • 2 tags to label cords for different clubs
    • Manual

    SAFETY WARNING

Safety should always come first. The Autopuller System was designed to give consistent pulls without the need for a trap boy. You should never be alone when practicing, but with the Autopuller System, you do not have to rely on your companion to do the pulling.

Clay Delay Inc. takes no responsibility for damage caused by incorrectly wired trap machines, modified trap machines, modified Clay Delay units, incorrect data given to Clay Delay Inc. at time of order, or use of the Autopuller for purposes other than that for which it was designed.

Always be sure no one is near the target machine when you arm the Autopuller.
